it uses a RFID wall remote and a RFID receiver at the canopy. Basically, the light/motor/neutral connects to the RFID receiver, and the receiver connects to the house main in the ceiling.
The RFID remote isn’t wired, and is battery powered. However, there are wiring in the walls that connects the wall switch with fans (the fan just doesn’t need it).
Could I replace this setup with the blue fan/light canopy + the blue dimmer switch setup?
Another question is, are there other Zigbee Binding switch that work with the blue fan/light canopy? the blue dimmer switch is always out of stock
Yes. Your fan has an AC motor so it’s compatible with the canopy module. You will have to remove or wire around the module in the fan housing that communicates with the remote.
You should mate the canopy module with a Blue FAN switch, not the dimmer. The fan switch is available.
pairing with a dan switch? the canopy combo uses a dimmer switch though… i thought i could do a zigbee binding between the canopy and the switch so the switch can operate it?
Doesn’t this only apply if there are no lights connected to the ceiling fan, since the fan switch isn’t rated for lights / LEDs (see a post of mine (and the answers on it)
Yeah, that’s a good point. I tagged Rohan so hang on. Also checking w/Inovelli. Worst case, you wire line and load together at the switch, but either will work (given availability) for binding, I think.
Yep, this is correct. Fan switch isn’t rated for lights, dimmer isn’t rated for fans.
If you want to pass power through the switch to a fan with a light (so you can use the air gap) you need the new on/off switch which is in beta (blue, I don’t know the status of the white one).
Otherwise you can use either the dimmer or the fan switch with binding and bypass the load terminal on the switch, connecting only line and neutral.
