Inovelli VZM32-SN not controlling load

I’m troubleshooting an Inovelli Blue Series mmWave Presence Dimmer Switch (VZM32-SN) and I’m stumped.

The switch powers up, pairs to ZHA perfectly, and I can control it from Home Assistant. LED bar works, dimming state changes, etc. But the switch never energizes the load.

What I’ve tried:

Factory reset

Tried 2 different VZM32-SN switches

Single pole setup

Neutral connected properly

Line to neutral = 123V

Line to ground = 124V

Load to neutral = only ~1.9V regardless of ON/OFF or dim level - Measuring directly at the switch terminals

Smart bulb mode disabled

Output set to on/off and dimmer modes

Different LED fixtures tested (20W LEDs and normal LED bulbs)

Even with no wire attached to the load terminal, I still only measure ~1.9V from LOAD terminal to neutral with the switch on. So the switch itself never seems to drive the output terminal.

Old zwave switch worked fine with the same wiring (although different terminals on the switch)

I’m hoping someone has some ideas for me

Edit: the power_type parameter reads true

Before installing the switch, did you test to determine which was the Line and which was the load?

Since you tried 2 switches, this suggests it’s not a hardware problem.

I agree doesn’t seem like a hardware problem. I double checked after the second switch didn’t work and line and load are correct. I figured they would be because my older zwave switch worked fine (and I reinstalled them again for now and they still work fine) that also suggests it’s not wiring.

I can absolutely not explain this! On the one switch that I still had installed I did another factory reset no change so I did another factory reset and it just started working. No change in wiring just the fifth factory reset.

I will reinstall the other switch and see if a few factory resets, kick it in
