I pulled another one out of the box and it paired to Z2M perfectly. I canāt remember if this one had the new firmware. Too bad thereās no way to check in Z2M.
I have a few more which are unused in the box and not flashed with the new firmware (unsure if maybe the factory updated these before shipping them out)
Iām going to swap this new ones with the problematic ones I have.
Iām wondering if this is a QC issue on Junoās part. Especially since another post said these werenāt made to pair with other hubs.
Maybe something similar to how finicky Aqara devices are.
@yttrium sorry for the delayed response. My Juno devices where tricky to pair (several power cycles) and only after updating to the latest firmware via the SmartThings app. Once paired in Z2MQTT, they showed as only RGBW there and that āimportedā into Home Assistant correctly.
I have 3 different groups - 2 of 5 and 1 of 3 lights. Each has had periods of stability and periods of absolute failure to join / rejoin the network. The group of 3 I replaced with GE Cync (matter rather than Zigbee) that seem stable but are tricky to control with Inovelli due to being on a different network. One group of 5 has stopped working a couple of times but I was able to rejoin with power cycling / resetting each device. The other group of 5 failed a few weeks ago so I set the switch to On/Off mode for a week or so and was about to remove those lights too but out of the blue they allowed pairing and came back to life. I fought with Aquity to get replacements of a completely different dumb fixture. The last I contacted Aquity tech support they said that the project to create a new model that didnāt use the Samsung chipset has been abandoned and there will be no replacement option.
@cinvie What is this Samsung chip? What chip was it supposed to replace in the current model?
I wonder what zigbee chip Acuity is using and if this is what the problem is.
Does using a SmartThings hub pair these lights with Bluetooth or zigbee?
I gave up and paired these to an Amazon echo. Paired a lot easier, was able to pair six lights at the same time.
Made a light group and there is a delay in turning the group on/off. Amazon probably sends the command individually to each light as I can see each light bulb turn off in succession.
For anyone finding this thread in the future. I would avoid this lights unless you can get them for dirt cheap.
For anyone following along, the Sonoff P does not seem to play well with these lights. Switched to SLZB-06 and 7/8 paired nicely. Swapped the remaining one with a brand new light and it paired nicely.
Juno seems to have some QC issues with these lights. I returned another set of 4 I could never get to pair even with the new firmware.
Before integrating these with Z2M and HA, pair the lights in ST and update the firmware. This is a pain since you have to update each light individually. You have to keep your phone awake during the update or it will fail.
You can pair all the lights at once with Z2M. If any fail, I would try once or twice before exchanging for a new one.
If the lights work properly they should pair easily. I realized this after I tried pairing one more than five times.
I had a set of lights not respond but did after a power cycle.
It is too bad Acuity does not seem interested in making these work perfectly outside of ST.
@supreme,
Your experience mimics mine. I had ~84 of the Acuity wafers installed, waited/worked with them for 24 months, finally got the firmware, updated each one and had a huge improvement, but I still had lights going offline regularly. A hard reboot by disabling smart bulb mode would bring them back online, but what a royal PITA.
I finally broke down and bought these directly off Alibaba.
Proās:
-The Zigbee Implementation seems rock solid
-They work with groups and smart bulb mode flawlessly
Conās:
-Thereās no adjustable version for aiming/wall washes
-The fit/finish does not seem as high a quality
-They donāt come with their own electrical box, making installation a challenge
-I never got confirmation up or down from Gledopto that they are IC rated, so Iāve had to install insulation space cones as a barrier/air pocket space.
@supreme,
Thatās exactly the experience I had with the Juno downlights, theyād rejoin the mesh with a power cycle, but theyād still āhangā randomly and a power cycle was the only way to bring them back. So using groups, and setting them up as smart bulbs on blue switches proved futile.
I had over 80 installed. And after 24 months waiting for the firmware to fix it, it only fixed things to an extent. Now instead of them needing to be factory reset and re-added to a mesh, it only took a power cycle to bring them back to life⦠-Grrrrrrr.
