I’m eagerly awaiting the availability of the Inovelli Smart Presence Dimmer. I’m looking forward to being able to trigger on presence in the rooms of my house.
I have several rooms with lots of light switches. Will the mm-wave presence signals between different switches interfear with each other? Do I need to be careful of putting in too many switches too close to each other?
If I have a place with two switches side-by-side, I only want to install one presence switch and use a regular Inovelli smart dimmer switch for the other one, right? Or, is there an advantage of having the presence capability on every switch?
I can’t imagine you’re going to see any benefit to having two right next to each other. In a larger room (like an open concept living room), there might be some benefit to having them spread around the room for better area coverage, and you would be able to do some basic zone like things.
I can only sort of speak to the interference question, and it’s anecdotal and from experiences with the Aqara FP2. So YMMV. I found with the FP2 that if two of them were pointed at each other that the two sensors would generate a fair amount of ghosting (that is showing presence when nobody was there). If I set the two sensors so that they ignored the area where the other sensor was, that seemed to help. But much of that could have been amount my particular apartment and not mmWave interferance.
