LZW30-SN: "Button Device" Missing from Hubitat Trigger Event Capabilities List

When I go to set up trigger events on a RED Series On/Off Switch (LZW30-SN) in a Hubitat Rules Machine, “Button Device” is missing from the capabilities list. I’m using the driver from: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/InovelliUSA/Hubitat/master/Drivers/inovelli-switch-red-series-lzw30-sn.src/inovelli-switch-red-series-lzw30-sn.groovy. Am I missing something?

I assume you are using the latest version of Hubitat (2.2.8.x). This introduced Rule 5.0, which I might also assume you are using. Rule 5.0 removed the “Button Device” trigger in Rule Machine in favor of of the revamped, standalone Button Controller app, now itself at version 5, which offers nearly the same functionality. If you want to automate multiple buttons/events for a single device, that is where I would recommend starting.

If you are still using Rule 4.x, then this trigger capability is still available, and as long as you have any such devices installed (this would be one), you should see it in the list. There is no reason to “upgrade” (recreate) existing rules, as they will continue working indefinitely, but I’d probably avoid creating new ones here since in 2.2.9 you will no longer be able to.

EDIT: I suppose I should mention that if Inovelli has any documentation that refers to this feature, they may want to change it to recommend Button Controller.

Thank you! Your assumptions were correct. Problem solved. For the Inovelli team, the documentation that needs to be updated is here: https://support.inovelli.com/portal/en/kb/articles/how-to-set-up-scenes-with-rule-machine-hubitat
