LZW31-SN Dimmers, one works one does not

I have 2 LZW31-SN Dimmers and recently purchased Relax HD 90 -Watt EQ BR30 Soft white Dimmable LED Spot Flood Light bulbs to connect to each. One has 7 of these bulbs installed and is working fine. The other has 5 receptacles. I have 2 of those bulbs installed but when I go to switch out any of the existing bulbs to install a 3rd the switch gets stuck in reboot loop. What advice do you all have for troubleshooting this? Thanks!!

Neutral or non-neutral?

It’s hard to tell without more information on your wiring, but every time I’ve had a switch in a reboot loop, it was because I reversed the load/line wiring.

No neutral.

I don’t think that’s it because it works perfectly fine with the old bulbs.

So in a non-neutral configuration, there has to be a certain amount of power draw by the bulbs for the switch to power up properly. It’s possible the two bulbs that you have added don’t meet that threshold. Pull the air gap on the switch and then add bulbs in the other five or seven slots, depending on which fixture you’re working with. Then pop in the air gap and see if the switch remains stable.

It does not remain stable. It runs through the reboot loop a few times and then turns the lights off. They are all still dimly lit though so I tried to hit the up button and that just results in nothing it flashing blue red and then green once. Eventually the switch just becomes totally unresponsive.

I have 5 bulbs total, when it’s working I have the 3 older (lower wattage) bulbs plugged in. If I remove any of those, leaving the socket empty or putting in a new bulb, the switch reboots.

Sorry for not providing much info, I’m still relatively inexperienced in troubleshooting this kind of thing. I’m not sure what info is useful.

If the bulbs remain dimly lit, more than likely you need to install a bypass at the light fixture. The switch still is not getting enough power, which is why it is rebooting.

Sweet! I’ll give that a shot and report back.
