LZW36 Issues - Local Control stops working after adding switch

@NicksGarage FYI there is an update to the driver that changes the fan component to “Hampton Bay Fan Component” adds easier to access speeds and breeze mode.

Just for the fan child device in Hubitat on mine. The light child uses a “Generic Component Dimmer” driver…

I am having the same problem @Sky320 is having. I have to airgap the switch to get it up and running again. I do have the latest driver up and running and I’ll keep my eye out for updates. I did just change the Local Protection Settings to “None” as @EricM_Inovelli mentions above. I’ll report back to see if that helps solve it.

I have two of the fan/light controllers and seem to be having very similar problems to the rest of the people in this thread.

Everything is fine with the wall switches until I send any changes from hubitat. Once I do anything from hubitat its a crap shoot what will happen next. Sometimes my physical switches don’t work or the light will work and not the fan, or really any combination you can think of. Once they get goofy I have to get them to an off state and air gap the switch to bring it back to operational.

I tried setting the protection option to fan and then back to none but that didn’t change anything

I attempted to update the firmware on them using the Hubitat Z-Wave firmware update tool to:

But it gets to a Padding message and never continues (was afraid to keep messing with it after the 3rd try)

I am using the driver dated 2020-06-02 and the child fan device is the Hampton Bay.

I to am having some what of a similar issue. I can control the fan just fine with the physical switch as well from the Hubitat dashboard. The lights I can control just fine from the physical switch but when I try to control from the dashboard it just hangs with the hour glass icon and never does anything.

I have verified that I have the latest driver code dated 07/12/2020. I have the Hampton Bay Light and Fan components correctly selected in each of the child devices.I have used the air gap switch to reset and reboot the hub with no change. Also I just updated the Hubitat hub t the latest firmware 2.2.2.123 with no change either.

@EricM_Inovelli – can you check out this thread when you get a chance?

Also, @Ma2J – I know you’re a Hubitat user and have the fan/light switch installed – are you seeing any of these issues?

Starting to feel survivors guilt…

No! I am not seeing/having any of these issues. I am using the current FW, the latest driver and the Hampton Bay Fan child (for the fan).

I did notice one thing, scrolling through this thread, @EricM_Inovelli suggested to set the local protections to “None”

I can’t imagine it’s not just defaulting to “None”…

I’m installing my second switch tomorrow. So we’ll see…

Hmmm… Try setting the light back to the “Generic Component Dimmer”. I think the recommendation was to Only change the Inovelli Fan child to the “Hampton Bay Fan Component”.

May have fixed my issues. I only did it a few minutes ago but things are playing much nicer. It will be a day or so before I am sure but I will repost if I need anything else… Thanks again

I have been having this happen on its own periodically. I’m sure there is something being pushed orrran too quickly or in a specific sequence that is turning off the local control. In the past, I would exclude and re-include the device to fix it. Now that I know to look at the ‘disable local control’ that might save me some heartache and time.
