Wondering if anyone knows if this combination will work with the assistance of home assistant set up? I want to be able to control them separately with button pushes but not sure if this will work?

If you can connect them both to HA, then you can control one with the other…
The issue that usually crops up though is if you want smooth dimming of lights, you need some way to pair or bind the switch and light together without using HA as the middle man.
On, Off and speed selection based on button presses are easy enough to add automations for though.
