mmWave Blue Dimmer not working with Aeotec Bypass

I am wiring a single Philips Hue recessed light to an mmWave blue dimmer without a neutral leg. I installed an Aeotec Bypass (from Innovelli) across the terminals for the bulb, but it still doesn’t seem to pass enough wattage to keep the switch on when the bulb is off (including off in smart bulb mode). When the bulb is on it works fine. Is this a known issue?

I understand I could wire the socket to be always on and repurpose a switch loop leg to be neutral but I was under the impression the bypass would work.

That is not an uncommon problem. Some have resolved the issue using more than one bypass. But that is a sort of a hit or miss approach, and you’re not going to know it’s going to work until you try it.

If you go with the eliminate the switch loop technique you mentioned, and are uncomfortable with the light being hot full time, you can always add a smart relay to the light to cut power when needed.

Ok. I don’t really want to spend that much money on bypasses so I will rewire the leg. I don’t mind it staying hot.
