mmWave blue -> white

First of all, congrats on the release! Huge achievement.

Now… there was a lot of confusion around blue vs white with this switch. Originally it was going to be flashable to thread, as the chipset supported both, but then there were memory constraints, and certificate issues.

I was told that I’d be emailed with the option to change my order. I didn’t want to wait, to ensure no waste in shipping costs, so I emailed support. They told me to wait… There was no announcement whatsoever about the release finally happening, and now I have a delivery of 5 blue mmWave switches.

I’m sure I’m not the only one. How shall we proceed?

@dudo Sorry if there was a breakdown somewhere I apologize for that, this project diffidently had some ups and downs. Eric has stated that the current items in development are the focus and an improved communication process is in work.

He/Inovelli has seemingly been presented with a double edge sword on multiple fronts. When emails are sent to all in our system for updates we are contacted due to unsolicited communications and have to try and balance providing updates while not over promising dates and setting expectations that may/will inevitably change due to issues that arise from the development process (Inovelli lives in the bleeding edge tech realm). The MMWave is a perfect example of this.

We were originally told as you pointed out that the MG24 can be upgraded to Matter, but it turned out that would not be as seamless as originally thought. With the Matter (White Series) MMWave there are a couple options that we can work with. First if you don’t want to wait for the White Series (no date as of this reply) you can keep the version you have. Two, the switches can be returned and refund issued. If you want to return them please either start the RMA process here or contact support here.

The White Series should go fairly smooth as the MG24 supports both Zigbee and Matter most of the development is done as far as PCB tooling it leaves the firmware, drivers, and beta testing to get through. Anyhow let us know what you would like through one of the two methods I have given.

Hi Brett -

I emailed you a return label for the blue series switches if you’d like to send them back to us.
