Square switch is all we use here in the UK. Granted no longer EU.
Most of my trips to the EU I’ve seen round wall sockets, not sure on the light switches but usually the round socket embedded in a square wall box. Mostly Greece and Spain, can’t remember in the rest of my visits.
Regarding styles, style 1 is a lot like the aqara zigbee switches I run here in the UK faultlessly with HA. My main and only complaints are the lack of extra functionality. It’s very hard to find any switches with built in sensors which should be standard in my opinion.
Style 2 would suit a lot of remodels where a bezel is needed to hide gaps but they also just sell bezels for switches in the UK specifically to hide bad workmanship or to make it look more decorative.
Bonus points if them being thread always powered devices makes them act as repeaters.
Happy to be of service for any UK testing. Have a home assistant with zigbee and thread setup and very experienced in electrical work / engineering. But I understand it’s years away. Catch me in a years time I’ll be doing a full house home automation from scratch
I’m currently living in France and all I see are square switches. You just have to look at Legrand to see that they mainly produce square switches. Can’t speak for the other countries in the EU though…
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a non-square switch here in the UK. I can’t say I pay too much attention to light switches when travelling Europe but as far as I can remember they’ve always been square or perhaps rectangle too. I’ll see in Italy next week!
Ok just signed up to say that I am really annoyed that I came across this.
I have just finished replacing all my switches with aqara h1. Now it looks like I’m going to have to start all over again!
Also looking forward to the 2 and 3 gang versions. Actually I may wait until they are released as most of mine are 2 gang. I use the extra button to control other devices. Would it be possible to use the smaller buttons to do the same thing? Can they be used to trigger automations in home assistant?
I actually prefer the bezel less design. It is similar to the aqara and I think it looks a bit more modern. However I would be happy with the chosen design, I have been waiting for no neutral dimmer switches.
I have signed up for updates on the product page. I take it I would be notified when it is available for purchase?
Hey all – I just put the product page up – would you mind giving it a look over before I put it live?
I want to make sure most (if not all) questions have been answered. Obviously, things may change as we go through the R&D process, but I will let everyone know if they do.
What I’m looking for is feedback on if the page makes sense and if I’ve captured everything above.
All information on that page has been confirmed by the manufacturer as possible.
Just read the page. Most of it seems good to me, although I am getting started on smart switches so I might have gone over some important questions.
I don’t know if that applies to the feedback you asked for but :
The milestones are not very clear to me regarding the estimated # units. It feels weird that the number decreases through each phase. Might be a good thing to put the total # of units needed instead of the # needed to go from one phase to another
There is a text saying “North American video shown for context” which seems like a weird wording for me. It feels like it was a memo that went into production, maybe some small phrase followed by a * that explains that the american switch is shown for context
The page is for a Matter smart switch, however in the specs a Zigbee module is mentioned. Is there something I am missing ?
I might be misunderstanding things as english is not my primary language. If that is the case, I am sorry !
Agree with the point regarding the milestone units. Am I correct in saying there needs to be 1,900 units sold for the production of the switch to start?
Most replies have already captured the bulk of it.
Some slight wording adjustments on the crowdfunding numbers, and maybe state refunds will be given if numbers are not met.
Remove mention of Zigbee.
There is also a link to the U.S Aux Switch in point 3 of the ‘Features’ section. Maybe explain that an EU Aux switch will be coming soon, or isn’t available yet?
Other than that, on the whole it looks good.
Make sure your meta descriptions and page titles are solid to help it get found on search engines.
I agree with previous commenters regarding clarity on milestones, the mention of a zigbee module, and the EU aux switch.
I’d also like to add that the “Is there a faceplate included? If not, what faceplate do you recommend?” section confused me somewhat. Perhaps adding a product image with only the switch module (faceplate excluded) could help people understand what is actually included in the box.
Additionally, I can’t find any reference to System 55 products with Schneider or Legrand; it seems to be exclusively a GIRA concept.
Legrand offers their Mosaic line and Schneider their Unica line, but both of those are based on 45x45 modules. So perhaps this section could use a little clarification.
I’d be interested to see the UK cost including shipping as these look great! What I’m really hoping for is a 2 gang version in the near future though. There are plenty of non-neutral, dimmable, 1 gang smart switches on the UK market but there are no 2-gangs and we have plenty of them across the UK!
Don’t get too far ahead. Although it’s EU voltage and will work, they’ll need it UKCA registered I’d imagine before they can legally sell it in the UK.
I too have the aqara switches from aliexpress which I’m pretty sure are stamped UKCA but we all know how reliable some sticker or stamp is. The running joke of CE sticker standing for Chinese export.
According to the UK Gov website, Inovelli would either not require CE marking, or would automatically qualify by adhering to an equivalent EU standard anyway.
I imagine their manufacturer would be doing this as a given, so shouldn’t really be much bother.
I would prefer the # preorders to be shown in total, so 735 for first step, 1375 for second and 1910 for all the way. and a progress line that will show how for we’ve come regarding pre orders
I think clarification on the faceplate frames is definitely needed. Most specifically, which company/systems/frames will provide a colour match for your switches, or what RAL your switches are?
