This is an extension of troubleshooting I’ve been doing from a previous thread.
I wanted to test to see if my wiring would work with a dumb switch (instead of the aux switch I was having trouble with in my previous thread) and my current setup is now doing something even weirder. Both the Inovelli switch (IS) and dumb switch (DS) seem to only be turning the switch on or off. In essence:
IS-on/DS-on: Light ON
IS-on/DS-off: Light ON
IS-off/DS-on: Light ON
IS-off/DS-off: Light OFF
So not like a normal 3-way configuration.
The switch is set up for dumb 3-way switch in Hubitat:
I noticed some weird behavior’s with other bulbs (like flickering), but this GE dimmable bulb seemed to work the most reliably, so I’m using it consistently seeing the on/off behavior described above.
Playing with it again after posting my original post I’m noticing that when I turn one switch on the light turns on. When I turn the second switch on, the light actually brightens up. Is my setup only giving partial power from each switch??
No ideas for your original problem, but I’d recommend putting in a second red series dimmer instead of a wireless Pico. That way you can associate them to each other and not have to go through your hub for control. And they’ll visually match too.
I’d be sad about having to buy another Inovelli dimmer and even more sad if I got it and it didn’t end up working. Everyone seems to be stumped about my wiring situation (still no replies a day later) and I know that the single Inovelli does work to control my load, so putting in a Lutron Remote seems like the most bullet proof option. Plus the majority of my Invovelli switches are already in Smart Bulb Mode (the main reason I got them), so I don’t mind a switch needing to communicate with my hub to control the light.
