Red MMwave 3 way with older Red / Black dimmer

Just received my Red mmWave switches, but looks like I have to rewire since they don’t work with Dumb switches.

Instead of buying Aux switches, or more of the expensive mmWave switches fo my multi-way setups, is it possible to repurpose the Red / Black series dimmers they will be replacing as Aux switches with the mmWave Red?

I think these can be bound together (I have some bound to bulbs, and I think they can be bound to each other as well…) so as long as you have a power and neutral at those other location, you should be able to use them to control the load on the mmWave switch.

If binding doesn’t work, then the hub should be able to do the same.

I don’t remember if the old black series supports Z-Wave associations, but the red should definitely do it. You’ll want to associate groups 2,3,4 in both directions and then on one of the switches set the association behavior to not forward zwave commands (to avoid infinite command loops).

You’ll need to rewire to send a hot and a neutral to all of your “remote” smart switch locations.
