I am seeking advice on using a red series dimmer switch (VZW31-SN) with no load connected as a remote smart dimmer for a Minoston zwave dimmer plug. Using Z-wave JS UI in Home Assistant I associated groups 2, 3, and 4 on the switch to the plug. This worked well and I am able to turn the plug on and off with no delay. The dimming does not work very well though. Holding the down/off button dims too quickly and releasing it makes the brightness level jump up a bit from where it seemed to have dimmed down to. It also turns off the LED string lights attached to the dimmer plug very quickly. Which parameters should I adjust to ensure that the switch dims the plug smoothly and slowly?
Thanks @rohan for your reply. On the switch I have set all the dimming speed parameters to match parameter #1. The plug’s dimming speed parameter only goes from 1 to 10 and I cannot find documentation that defines the scale. I tried setting it to 3 to match the 30 (3 seconds) but that did not improve the dimming. Tried various number combinations for the dimming speeds on both the switch and plug but saw no improvement. Any ideas for a dimming speed value for each device that will give a nice smooth dimming rate?
I don’t have a Minoston dimmer, but I would guess that the scale is in seconds. If you have an I instruction manual for it, I would hope they’ve put it in there.
It might be worth starting at 0 (no delay) and see if that matches up.
