Red switch dimmer bricked after power outage

Hi We just had a power outage due to a blizzard today and it appeared that one of the red switches I have appeared to be bricked. I can’t soft reset with the air gap and I tried holding the config button for 20 sec but it did not do anything. I am wondering if anyone has solution for this.

It’s not uncommon for smart switches, not just Inovellis, to be bricked by a power surge. More than likely, your house suffered a power surge when the power was restored.

It’s always a good idea to protect mains-powered devices with a whole house surge protector in your panel.

And it’s not just smart switches. I have lost a couple garage door opener boards before I added a whole house surge protector to my panel. During one of those surges, five or six people in my neighborhood also lost garage door opener boards.

If you search here, there are a number of threads where whole house surge protectors have been recommended and discussed.

If it is truly bricked, the solution is to replace it.

Does the switch have any light on the bar?

I have the same problem. Power outage, but I have a whole house surge protector in my panel. When power can back on the light bar flashes red very quickly, but the light it controls turns on. I tried soft reset and air gap nothing seems to be able to let be control it.

If your switch is powering up, I would try a factory reset.

The switch powers up and lights my ceiling light, but the light bar flashes red. Holding the config button down for 20 secs does not reset the switch.

Is there another way to does a reset?

What is the model number of your switch? The method that you described is for the Gen 2 switches. The Gen 3 switches require that you hold down the config button at the top paddle until the LED turns red. Then release the config and quickly the top paddle thereafter.

Inovelli Dimmer Red Series LZW31-SN

That is a Gen 2 so a long press of the config button should factory reset it. Hold it for about 45 seconds, does LED bar change colors at all?

Make sure that local control of the switch is enabled.

how do I enable local control? My habitat will not communicate with the switch. I tried holding the config button for 45 secs, light bar just flashed red.

8x on the config. If it flashes red, then you’ve disabled it. If it flashes green, then you re-enabled it.

I held the config button down for 45 secs, the light bar would just flash red. I tried excluding the device, but no response. The light bar just randomly flashes red for a while and shuts off. The light that is connected to the switch just remains on the entire time.

I think it is fried.

Yeah, unfortunately it sounds like that may be the case.
