Red VZW31-SN shows as light in Home Assistant

Hi folks,
I added a Red VZW31-SN into Home Assistant and it seems Home Assistant created it as a light entity instead of a switch. Is this expected because it has dimmer features? Is there a way to assign it as a switch instead?

Yes, all dimmers are represented as lights in Home Assistant.

You can create a template switch like this to have it show up as a switch entity: VZM30 (Blue On/Off) showing as a light not switch - #16 by andrewk

One thing to keep in mind, is that the VZW31 is not rated for inductive loads. This in practice means that it’s only rated for use with lights.
