I have an LZW31-SN dimmer that appears to be going bad (will turn off on its own, LED will change colors and “race” etc.). I have two of these switches side-by-side and I’m hoping that someone can confirm if they new ones look the same as the original dimmer.
Also, in my current implementation, I use the LED colors as a notification method (door open, door closed, outside light on etc). All my logic is in Node-RED using the Hubitat node and the LED child device. Again, looking to confirm that I will be able to use similar functionality with the new device(s).
They look very similar. But the color “white” that they use is slightly different between the second gen (LZW) and third gen (VZW/VZM/VTM) switches. I’ve had them side by side for the past 3 years and the minor discrepancy doesn’t bother me. The lightstrip also uses different LEDs so the brightness and colors are slightly different but there is a parameter to enable compatibility mode that gets it pretty close.
There is more functionality in the third gen switches than the second generation ones had but no functionality is missing.
