Oh yeah – project update: these are open for pre-order
Yeah totally – we are still building out the site so we haven’t put the extensions up yet, but we should have them up tomorrow. They’re 6’ extensions (w/no LED’s).
Great question – it is 16’ before the degradation of lumens kicks in. We are looking at providing an amplifier of some sort for the longer runs, but for now 16’ is the max you can go and what the firmware is written for.
Ha! Thank @Brianna_Inovelli for that one – it was her idea to run it on Monday vs later in the week
Man that would be sweet – how would you do that? Oh, nm via Harmony – yeah you could totally do that. I miss my Harmony – I had the one where the remote could trigger scenes, is that what you have?
Yessir! You can also directly associate it to a Z-Wave switch allowing you to turn it on/off/dim as well.
Thank you! That means a lot
If all goes well, @Brianna_Inovelli should have the automated emails up and running so you’ll get a fancy one instead of the current, boring ones lol
Excellent! I’ll have to put a second order in with those, is it possible to somehow piggyback on my first order to take advantage of the free shipping?
Yeah, I’ll shoot you a PM and we’ll get it sorted out!
As I thought about this a bit and how I’ll do placement, it would actually also be nice to have options shorter than 6 foot. Not sure if it’s something the manufacturer even has as an option, but I’m thinking I might end up having spots where 6 feet will end up being too long.
I can certainly ask for future orders. I think this is the one thing they outsource, so I’ll have to see if that’s available to them.
What were you thinking in terms of length?
Hmm great question, for context I’ll probably use this first order to light up some glass cabinets in a TV stand, so I don’t have huge gaps between the cabinet sections.
I have in my mind options for 2 and 3 foot being nice to have options. Even shorter 1ft lengths could be nice in some circumstances. I’m sure it’s tough from the business perspective though, don’t want to keep stock of extra items that don’t have a lot of demand.
IMHO- there’s not going to be one answer here, there’s going to be 50 answers. So I think maybe the resulting answer would be sell a very barebone kit- controller, one 1ft segment and one 6" segment, keep the main SKU price as low as possible, and have the customer piece together what they need from the ‘extra segment’ SKUs.
Or have @Brianna_Inovelli work together a custom order page where you tell it how many of each part you want (1’ strip, 6" strip, T, L) and it creates a custom order with a SKU for a standalone controller (no strip) and the appropriate number of spare part SKUs. (Sorry Brianna!)
@Eric_Inovelli the product page doesn’t list what’s included in the bundle. The picture shows a roll of and the controller. Can you add a breakdown of what’s exactly included? (ie how many 1 ft and 6 inch strips). I’m new to the LED strips, can you explain the “pixel effect”? Also can we swap out the power supply with a bigger one to increase the usable length?
Edit: Found what’s included on the 12 inch strip accessory page.
What’s Included?
Straight out of the box you get five 12-inch lightstrips, two 6-inch lightstrips and a Z-wave plus controller with 12-v power adapter.
We should have the product page fully updated today. There were some issues with the html that my 2004 myspace html knowledge just wasn’t ready for
I’m going to refer to the above on this one
I suspect there are a few of us well versed in HTML if you need help making that happen
*j/k
I bet you had music playing on your main page though…
Not only did I have music playing on my main page but my friend helped me create a scrolling top friends list… I remember when Facebook came out I thought it was boring because I couldn’t customize my profile!
If I order two sets of these, is there a way to group them together so that the animations look seamless?
I’m considering using these as undercabinet lighting in my kitchen, but I have two sides to the kitchen that I’m not able to run a wire between so I’m wondering if I can put a strip and controller on one side and another strip and controller on the other side.
Good question. Not that I’m aware of at least at this point. To some extent it’s going to depend on what you are displaying. With a static color, obviously no issue. With a pattern, if it’s random I don’t think you’ll notice, Aurora for example. Anything sequential isn’t going to line up.
But as of now, there are 45 “canned” effects to chose from, so I would think that some of them will be just fine running on two controllers.
Could you associate them? Otherwise setup a scene.
Yes, Association Groups are supported. I could be wrong, but I don’t think that’s going to make a sequential effect “line up”.
True. Depending on the distance between the two segments it may be hard to tell.
