This is my first Inovelli product and my first Matter product as well. All my existing products are zigbee and z-wave. Today I installed the white switch according to the instructions and configured it as a dimmer no problem. Things work as expected with the switch itself. However when I attempted to pair the switch to my Samsung Smartthings hub, things went sideways. It fails to pair no matter what I do. It ends up failing with an error 39-402 and something about a password which doesn’t make sense to me(I’ll try again later and get the whole message if that would be helpful), looked all over and haven’t been able to figure out what it all means. Any help would be appreciated.
Full message: Your device couldn’t be connected to the SmartThings service. Make sure the password is correct, reset the device, and then try adding it again.
Error code: 39-402
Note: Samsung Smartthings is connected to my home network via Ethernet and is running Firmware version: 000.053.00019 (should be the newest)
Yeah, that’s a TBR. I’d try factory resetting the switch and then add it to ST. Don’t try to configure settings first. Not sure what’s throwing that error, but a factory reset is worth a shot.
I ended up moving my Smartthings hub closer to the switch and it worked. Everything paired and is working perfectly. My Smartthings hub is normally in my basement utility room with the rest of my network equipment and the switch was installed on the second floor. I will temporarily relocate the SmartThings hub to the main floor until I get more switches such that the mesh can reach from the basement to the second floor. Still a little bit disappointed that Smartthings doesn’t document their error codes, but that’s not in Inovelli.
P.s. I definitely think my issues were range related as when I first moved my Smartthings hub to the second floor for troubleshooting, some of my sensors in my basement went offline. With the SmartThings hub on the main floor, everything seems to be alright.
