For your consideration… Is it worth clarifying that the originally-bad IEEEs might now show up as (legitimately) good devices?
You do a good job explaining that the main concern about those IEEEs hinges around the original timeframe, but it may be helpful to add that if you get one of those IEEEs since then, they are actually tested and verified as OK to use. One of my replacements is a 38:5B:44, but it’s workin’ great (as you promised it would!)
