Just installed my new White switch. Single pole, no neutral. Dirt simple install. The light is a Braun 64410 LED shop light direct wired. Worked fine with the previous dumb switch. According to Braun, it draws 55W. With the new White switch set to Single Pole, On/Off, it turns on, but flickers badly. Any suggestions?
It looks like based on similar questions on Reddit from a few years ago for that specific model and other dimmers that that is not a dimmable LED and will have problems with dimmer switches.
I think Inovelli is developing an on/off switch without dimmer functionality that will probably work with that type of LED when it comes out.
I have a dimmable track light in the garage, so maybe I’ll try the switch there and see if the flicker goes away. I don’t like the Braun light anyway, so if the switch works with the track lights, I’ll get a similar setup.
Try enabling “Single Pole - Full Sine Wave”, assuming you have a neutral wire. That’s supposed to make it work like a dumb on/off switch, which should work with non-dimmable lights. I’m using that feature on a blue series switch to good effect.
Ahh, sorry, just re-read your post and saw you don’t have a neutral wire :(. Not having a neutral definitely limits options with smart switches. Your best bet then, if getting a neutral wire is not possible, is what you’re planning, replacing it with a dimmable bulb.
I’m going to repurpose the switch elsewhere. Replacing this light fixture is more hassle than I want to take on just to have remote control over it. It’s mounted on the garage ceiling and the wiring goes up into the attic. I’ll find another use for the Inovelli switch.
