Thread 2-1 Dimmer - Some Initial Questions

Some initial questions/comments after installing a couple switches and setting them up in Apple Home:

Is it possible to mark a switch as just on/off in Apple Home? I have a switch that is set in on/off mode via the paddle controls, but I don’t see a way to make a similar change in the Apple Home UI, so it’s still showing up as a dimmer there.

If you select “Show as Separate Tiles”, then it looks like the ability to see/configure the buttons disappears. And when they are grouped together, I see a lot of flickering between 2 and 5 devices listed, so it seems like there is some inconsistency about how the sub-devices are exposed.

Naming is a challenge, because I don’t want to also change the light bar when I’m telling Siri to turn a light on/off. It would be nice if there was a way to exclude the light bar devices from Siri entirely (but keep it exposed in Apple Home), because I only ever want to change it programmatically.

Are there any proposals for supporting custom parameter config via the various hubs? I appreciate that it’s at least possible via the physical buttons, but I’m not really looking forward to doing it on 80 switches…

Yes Matter allows for something Called ‘Mode Select’ (BUT the ecosytems Matter Hub must support it) which presents some of the many options to be user configurable in the ecosytems GUI. Home Assistant is the only ecosystem to have this implemented, to the best of knowledge, and some, but not all options can be set there. Inovelli must program which if any config options are available by Mode Select into the firmware.

So there is no way at current time to make it display as an on off switch but regardless of, if you have it set to on/off mode, even if you slide the dimmer slide up to any%, the switch will turn on to 100% and will update itself in home within a short time to 100% as well.
If you separate the tiles. If you click the actual light icon left side of the tile, not the right side with the name. It will turn the switch on 100% as a single click without popping up the sub-menu with the slider. Again this only works when the tiles are separated.
While the programming tile disappears, it can be reappeared by combining the switch again to change any programming.

The parameter changes are up to apple to adopt into the home app, how much of the matter standard they integrate is up to them. Apple likes to make a lot of home dummy proof with not a whole lot of advanced features, which is unfortunate. You may end up needing another hub depending on who integrates it all first.

This is the solution I was looking for. I have a switch in the den that operates my sconces. I call the light sconces and the other sconces led. Now “hey siri turn on the den sconces “ works every time. Thanks for the post.
