Videos/Walkthroughs of Blue Fan Switch?

Hey all, I’ve been holding onto some Blue Fan Switches for the ceiling fans in my bedrooms, and I’ve been gearing up to install them. Before I dove in though, I wanted to know, does anyone have any videos or walkthroughs of the blue fan switch in action? I looked on YouTube and somehow, there seems to be no coverage on the new Fan Switches.

Specifically, I’d like to know:

  • On a fan that has 3 speeds, how do you change the speed? Does the fan have the option to stop in discrete steps?
  • If the switch doesn’t have the option to stop in discrete steps, how does the fan treat it if the switch says “50%?” Does it round down? Round up?
  • What are the solutions you all have implemented to get those discrete steps? How have you all implemented them? Any examples?

I’ve got a pretty good handle on the basics of the light switches, but I feel like aside from applying the switches to exhaust fans, I don’t have a great understanding for how these switches work with ceiling fans, so any documentation or videos showing them off would be greatly appreciated!

The fan switches output three distinct speeds in the ceiling fan mode, low, medium and high. Those speeds are not configurable, as they are regulated by capacitors in the switch for low end medium and unregulated ie 120VAC for high.

Paddle presses change the speeds with a couple of variations depending upon parameter settings. In one configuration you can press and hold the paddle to raise and lower the speeds. In another configuration, a single tap up or down will move the speed up or down one setting. There are also parameters to allow for a 2x up for full speed, 2x down for minimum speed or 2x down for off.

Thanks a ton, Bryan. That’s great to hear. Appreciate the reply. Definitely addresses my question.
