I recently installed 2 Blue Smart Dimmer VZM31-SN switches, both in smart bulb mode.
The first worked as expected.
The second wasn’t turning off my lights correctly, and flashed colours cyan, blue, yellow on the LED bar. It appears that the air gap pull tab rubs against the bottom of the paddle, and when pressing the paddle, especially holding it in, the air gap is triggered, the switch loses power, and when I release the bottom of the paddle it reboots and comes back. If I press the paddle lightly, I can turn the lights off without the reboot. But a “firm” press, or holding it in (with intent to dim) will cause the switch to lose power.
My other switch doesn’t have this issue.
I noticed that if I hold the air gap tightly with my other finger so it doesn’t move, then I’m able to operate the paddle, including holding down, without the reboot. This confirms that these 2 plastic controls are interacting and causing the issue.
Pressing different parts of the paddle, it seems like the plastic creaks a bit. I tried wiggling the plastic on and around the air gap and the paddle to see if something would “click into place”, but no luck. My working switch is not “creaky”.
Any chance of a simple solution? If not, I’m in Canada, so I guess I should initiate a return with Aartech?
