I’ve been swapping some of my Blue 2-1s (VZM31-SN) for the mmWave VZM32-SN, and the kitchen now has a steady flicker at low brightness that it didn’t have before. The flicker changes with the level and goes away at about 14% in HA with min 13 / max 190, which works out to roughly 41 on the switch’s own scale. There’s nothing else running on nearby circuits or anything like that.
The switches are set up neutral, single pole with one smart aux bound over Zigbee, 8 LED wafers, Z2M 2.14.1. The kitchen draws about 7.8 W at ~9%.
Here’s what I tested in the same box on the same load, all trailing edge, Single Pole, Dimmer, output range 13 / 190:
- VZM31-SN (spare): no flicker at 1%
- VZM32-SN #1 (the one I installed): flickers
- VZM32-SN #2 (borrowed from another room): flickers
Both VZM32s are on the latest firmware in Z2M. The same wafers dim fine on a VZM32 on another circuit (min 8), but that circuit only has 6 wafers.
So it looks like the VZM32 just can’t go as low as the VZM31 on this load. Is that a known difference in the output stage? Are there any settings worth trying besides just giving up on my previous dimming minimum level?
