I have the VZM36 Fan/Light Zigbee Canopy Module. When I’ve tried to pair it, it successfully pairs the status led turns green, then the status led turns yellow and red and it disconnects. I’ve factory reset it several times and I get the same results. I’ve also tried a second canopy module and it also didn’t work. Wonder if I got a bad batch? If there is a better way to reset it? A new firmware I should try? I did successfully install one in a different location and I’m fairly confident my wiring is correct. But prepared to try anything.
So I’ve tried a 3rd in a different location where I know 100% the wiring is correct and it still isn’t working. Only 1/4 seems to be working. They all have the 1.0 firmware. It joins the zigbee network and then removes itself immediately.
Still happening. Tried another location and still having the issue. Captured a video of the bug happening. It’s a little shakey but should capture the gist. The device connects to the zigbee network, then immediately disconnects.
You might want to post your hub and if HA, ZHA or Z2M. No one here can help diagnose a connection problem if they don’t know how you’re connecting.
It’s Zigbee2MQTT.
It’s not a traditional connection problem as it will connect and interview. Even will respond to commands for the moment in between disconnects. The problem is that device just removes itself moments after connecting.
Additionally I’ve tried main default debugging steps:
- Connection issues: The canopies should be in reach of the zigbee signal. I have zigbee lights in the same network and also the same location that the canopies were placed and have strong signal throughout the house
- Firmware/drivers: Zigbee2MQTT is up to date, the canopies don’t stay connected long enough to update driver
- Factory Reset: Tried and repeats same behavior, did both hold button down for 20 seconds and disconnecting power repeatedly methods to do so
- Trying to pair again: It continually pairs and disconnects then pairs and disconnects so doesn’t seem to matter here
- Wifi/Zigbee: Already deliberately have the wifi and zigbee setup so that interference doesn’t happen. Additionally what I said in #1 with many lights, switches, and other devices connected with strong signal
- Compatibility: Zigbee2MQTT is compatible as explicitly called out in the documentation and within the zigbee2mqtt documentation
- Location Specific: Tried 3 different installation locations with 3 different canopies, issue persists no matter location. 1 in particular had an already existing old school RF canopy that worked, so I don’t think anything is wrong with the locations…
