I have a Blue series dimmer switch. When I first opened the box and pressed the switch I noticed it had a click noise when pressing on and off. Then while looking through the controls in Home Assistant I noticed the option that says “Disable relay click in on/off mode”. I turned that on but didn’t notice anything different. The switch still makes that click noise when pressing on or off. Is that normal or should that setting make the switch silent? I’m used to the Lutron smart switch we use for our outside lights that is silent when you press the light switch
There are two “click” noises. One is the buttons behind the paddle and the other is a slightly louder “thunk”. When physically pressing the paddle, you’ll always get the button click, but depending on the setting, you may or may not get the “thunk” along with it.
The easiest way to tell if the relay click is enabled is to turn the switch on and off from the hub. If the relay click is enabled, you’ll hear it. If not, the switch will turn on and off silently.
This should work with 2-ways and multi-ways with Auxs. If you have a multi-way with dumb switches, you can’t turn the click off.
As you change settings, you may need to reboot via the air gap and/or operate the switch from the hub a few times to get the new setting to engage.
Ok thanks, I think I understand what you’re talking about. We had an old light timer for light by our front door and garage. When they would turn on you would hear a very loud click, or as you called it a thunk, throughout almost the whole house.
With the inovelli switch when I use Home Assistant to turn the light on and off it has always been silent no matter if the disable relay option is on or off. But you’re saying that the click I hear from the paddle, like what I heard when pressing the switches when I first opened the box, is normal?
Yes, if you are physically pressing the paddle there will be a click.
