I’m on 1.1.0 and it’s been flawless so far. The power reporting is inline with what I expect with the bulbs and things have been very stable.
Does 1.1.0 have a fix for the bug detailed in White Series won't turn on at given brightness? If so, I’ll beta test.
@EricM_Inovelli @Kaleb_Inovelli was there ever a release of the 1.0.6 firmware or did this become 1.0 and now 1.1? there were discussions of a new firmware a few months ago. Also, and I know this isn’t the fan thread, the fan switches haven’t ever gotten an update and they exhibit some of the same disconnect issues that the dimmers did with 1.0. I’ve posted on this before. Is there a new fan firmware coming. it is very random, but only my fans seem to fall off the matter network. Using HA with matter server and everything works great except for the random disconnect of a fan switch which then seems to cascade across multiple fan swithces.
I have the same question, thanks for raising this.
It may be addressed since this is a major update (SDK is going from 1.2 to 1.4). It would be great if you could test it on one switch to see.
@bigDvette @jonathanlaniado 1.0.6 was a small update that we didn’t officially release but is available for you to test if interested. After 1.1.1 and 1.1.x is fully tested will we make an announcement and release it. The fan switch will be getting an SDK update at some point, but I don’t have an ETA.
Got it, thanks. 1.0.6 supposedly resolves a widespread flickering issue we are experiencing and while I am technically capable, I prefer not to install the beta given some of the limitations/downsides.
It would be pretty great if 1.0.6 could be released as an officially supported version to fix those issues!
Okay cool, I can beta test. Send me the iOS profile etc. and some instructions ![]()
And just like clockwork, after a few more days, I now see that even with the 1.1 software the switches still get stuck in “unavailable” for extended periods of time (i.e 8+ hours).
Notably, I haven’t run into the issue where the physical switch stops working like it used to on previous firmware, but the remote access of the switch via home assistant will get stuck in Unavailable.
Oddly, it seems to happen more often over night
What are you using for the thread border router in your setup?
I have a Nest WiFI Pro with one additional access point, two Google TV streamers, a Nest hub Max, and the Home Assistant Yellow setup all setup in the same thread network
a lot of wifi routers that are set to auto optimize wifi channel do that optimizing over night. I’d look in to what channel your thread network is using and also what wifi channel your access points are utilizing. I essentially moved all wifi off of channel 11 in my house so that the thread network was clear of any wifi signals since it shares the same spectrum. Just wondering if your devices are getting booted during a bunch of wifi interferance and the matter server (HA) used to not recover well. It seems to be better with 8.1.1 honestly. Esssntially HA gives up at some point and stops trying and it doesn’t matter if the switch connects back with other hubs, it stays unavailable.
Let me check with the other beta testers to see if they have seen it. So far I don’t think anyone else has reported this.
Edit: @briengerber on a switch that most frequently does this, can you try to factory reset it (if you haven’t already)?
My issue where the lights couldn’t be turned on at a specific brightness seems to be resolved!
However, when in trailing edge mode, now my LED lights flicker
It goes away in leading edge mode, but then my lights buzz (hence why they were in trailing edge to begin with, also they’re LEDs which is what trailing edge is meant for).
I went through configuration mode and cut off the low and high levels that flickered, so now it’s in trailing edge mode, not buzzing, and not flickering.
So I think it’s fine for now. I’ll let you know if there are any disconnect issues.
Hmm, that is interesting and something that hasn’t been reported yet. There was an enhanced dimming algorithm introduced in 1.0.6 and then improved in 1.1.0 so this is surprising to me. I would be interested if you could factory reset the switch doing this so we can confirm it is a problem with the firmware and not something messed up from bad configuration data (happens during updates sometimes).
I’ve been able to restructure some of my thread border routers to been wired via ethernet and so far that seems to be helping stabilize the network. If there are any persistent issues with a specific switch, I’ll factory reset and then post my updates here.
I’d be interested in this if it’s possible to constrain the update to specific switches.
Also I see an end point for “LED Effects” is there going to be a way to detect the “height” of the LED bar when the switch is in dimmer mode? Or is there already a way to read that from the switch that that I am missing.
That feature replicates the notification function on our blue and white series. The whole LED bar is used for the effect. Essentially you change the option to solid (the only option prior to firmware 1.1.0), flash, chase, etc. and when you activate EP6 (the color device endpoint) it uses the effect as a “notification”.
Do you have any of your WiFi that is disabled at night (for parental controls or similar)?
Is there any sort of ETA on when the next production (non beta) firmware release will be? I’d love to take a look at some of the new power metering features, but I’m not super excited about installing a beta version.
Hopefully within the next couple of weeks. We have a couple changes to make for firmware 1.1.2. If that goes well we will certify that version and release it. Sometimes certification can take a while though.
