White Series Dimmer Unable to Pair After Power Cycle / Reset

Hi,

One of my switches is unable to pair after being cut from power (flipped a shared breaker to install another switch). I remove the device from Homekit and Home Assistant and reset the switch using the up + config for 20 seconds.

During the pairing process the LED bar flashes red 3 times.

Here is a video of the process:

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Andrew

A step that I didn’t know existed that helped me with this problem: Go to iphone settings, general, matter accessories, and remove the Inovelli dimmer switch. This, along with deleting the switch from homekit worked…although the switch is still not fully stable/reliable when using different buttons. Hope that helps. Can’t wait for the firmware update release.

Thanks for the tip, checked the iPhone matter settings and the only switches there are the ones that are working. The broken switch is also removed from HomeKit and Home Assistant

@apearson , I’m in a similar boat. I had two switches paired and working, then switched the breaker Sunday to install an aux switch on a different circuit. When I switched the breaker back on, these two switches appeared to be factory reset. Now no matter what I do I can’t seem to pair them. I’ve tried pressing config three times - which I had to do to pair them originally - as well as numerous factory resets. I tried moving our Apple TV right next to them as well as removing the switches and putting them where a working switch is all to no avail. They don’t even pulse like their in pairing mode. Any suggestions?

Might just start an RMA since I’ve installed another switch and had no problems pairing. Hopefully this isn’t a thing I’ll have to do every couple power outages

I suspect that this is fixed with the firmware update, but I can’t install the update without pairing the switch, so it’s a catch 22.

I have 3 white series dimmer, my first was like that after I had to factory reset it, could never get it back.

Had to open RMA with Inovelli, sent it back to them, they firmware updated it to 1.0.5 which one of that FW fixes addresses the factory reset issue :worried:

Thanks for the info @n1976jmk ! I opened a support request. If there’s another fix, I’d gladly do that rather than burden Inovelli with an RMA.

The problem with removing them from Matter Accessories is that I have about 30 switches and they are all labeled “Inovelli Dimmer Switch” so I really don’t know which one to remove.

Inside homekit you can find the Serial number in the switch details. You can match this serial number to the Matter Accessories

Contacted support and sending it back to them for a firmware update to 1.0.5 (like @n1976jmk)

last thing to try would be use the other band of your router. i couldn’t add another matter/thread device unless i was on the 5gz band.

Not sure if that would make any difference as thread requires a hub that talks Thread over the 2.4Ghz (IEEE 802.15.4).

Phone —(WiFi)—> Router → Hub —(Thread)—> Switch

I guess your router is blasting 2.4Ghz WiFi so loud it’s drowning out the Hub / Thread network.

Same thing happened to me put a ticket in this morning and got a message back saying out of the office til Monday. I guess they don’t work on Fridays? I wonder how long the process will take to send it off for them to update and send back. Sucks I’m going to have to wait 3 days to even get a response let alone a resolution.

I bought an extra switch just for this situation. Shipped off today, I’ll update when I get the switch back

You’ll live bud. Put the old switch in and go on about your life until you get it replaced. This isn’t Amazon. These people have a life too. It’s fine. You can try again in a week or two.

Got the switch back today. Will check the firmware tomorrow
