I’m experiencing switch load control randomly turning on with my VTM31-SN switches in Home Assistant/Homekit since updating the firmware about 1 week ago
The Issue:
- Firmware 1.0.5: Everything working
- Firmware 1.1.5: 2 of the switches turn on “Load Control” randomly
- Same settings, same automations, different firmware
A majority of the time the switches operate normally, but for some reason these 2 switches will at random times turn on or when they are already on and you turn them off (Physically or via HA/Homekit) the switch will immediately turn itself back on. Only 2 of my 30 switches are experiencing this issue.
Troubleshooting:
Each of the problem switches are part of their own automation to turn off the load control. One switch (Multi-Way with traditional dumb switch) is setup to turn off load control after having been on for 30 seconds. The other switch (Single-Pole) is set to turn off load control when a presence sensor no longer detects anyone in the room. I initially thought the automations were causing the Load Control to turn on for some reason, but after disabling them the issue persisted.
I have also messed with all the settings of the switch itself such as “Power-on behavior on startup (Load Control)”, Switch Mode, Control of Switch Load, and any other settings I thought may have had an affect. Some other things I did included making sure the wattage/load the switch was controlling was at least 25-30 watts, removing the device from HA/homekit entirely and re-adding it, and air gaping the switches. Neither of the switches is using smart bulbs, but I even tried smart bulb mode (I was out of ideas) with no fix.
I don’t think the location of the switches is the problem either. There is a third switch with no problems directly next to these 2 which leads me to believe that is not the cause. All the switches are on different circuits as well.
I tried looking for a way to downgrade the firmware but was not able to locate a previous version anywhere.

Update 1:
When one of the switches is experiencing this issue I attempted to turn off the load control via Home Assistant and it immediately turned back on. This was the log of that event “Basement, Stairs (Load Control) turned on triggered by action Light: Turn off”. I have no idea why turning it off triggers turning it on.
