White Series: on/off only vs dimmer (since on/off is default)

Is there any reason to wait for the on/off only version of the switch if you’re seeking on/off-only capability?

Since the dimmer defaults to on/off mode by default (safety reasons), is there a reason to wait and just use the dimmer version now?

e.g. control an outlet, control bathroom exhaust fan (where dimming capabilities is not needed)

The 2-1 is not rated for any type of load besides a light without transformer. Using it to control any of those devices listed would be a safety issue since the dimming circuitry controls the load even in on/off mode.
