I have multiple White Series Thread switches, and they all seem to reply slowly to pressing On/Off. My goal is to replace all my WiFi switches with these, but my WiFi switches react instantly when pressed, while the White Series seem to react after a second or two. While it may not seem that big of a deal, it’s frustrating when trying to turn the light on in a room and having to wait for the light to come on versus just “clicking it and it’s instantly on”. I did find the setting in Home Assistant for “On transition” and On/Off transition" and the default is 2.5 seconds; so I altered those to 0 seconds and while it did help, it’s still not “instant” like normal switches or my wifi switches. Is there another setting I’m missing? The mode for these is Dimmer+Single. I would expect a switch to re-act instantly when pressed, these do not. Anyone have any ideas?
If you are not using the paddle presses to trigger automations, you can turn off the switch delay. By default, this is set to 500ms to allow time for the switch to determine if you are trying to turn it on or if you are trying to execute a multi-tap.
The parameter, I THINK, is P50. (The White online manual points to the Blue parameter table, so until that is fixed, that’s the best I can find.) Set that to 0 to turn off the delay.
You can also turn it off at the switch:
Enable Instant-On (Disable Button Delay) Mode
To disable the button delay and create an, “Instant On” setup (ie: when you tap the switch, the light immediately turns on or off) on your White Series 2-1 Switch, hold down on the top part of the paddle (on) while simultaneously tapping the configuration button seven (7) times (do not let go of the paddle when finished tapping the config button). Wait for the LED Bar to flash solid green (and then let go of the paddle) indicating the switch has enabled Instant On Mode. Remember, if you enable this feature, you will no longer have multi-tap scene control from the paddle (you will still have it at the config/favorites button).
You can also try adjusting the Ramp Rate.
Ramp rate refers to how fast or slow the light turns on when you either remotely or locally (at the switch) bring the switch from off to on (or on to off).
OMG you’re my hero. That’s exactly what I was looking for. I do not see a Ramp Rate exposed to Home Assistant yet so wouldn’t be able to alter that. I expect that may come later. Either way, at least now I can get these lights to turn on/off instantly and my wife and kids won’t moan about the delay
You can do Ramp Rate at the switch. Take a look at the quick tap page:
Is there a reason that some of these parameters can be changed in Home Assistant but some are local control only. In the past with Red series switches, I think they could all be configured with Home Assistant.
There are several posts/threads explaining that this is a current limitation of the Matter standard, and if you look closely HA’s Matter support is still labeled beta. As usual, Inovelli is pushing the envelope with awesome new products, and it will take the industry a while to catch up with all of that awesomeness…
