I want to bind my white Smart Dimmer (Matter) with one or multiple LIFX Matter lights. I am specifically looking for press up turning on the light, press down turning down the light, hold up to gradually brighten, hold down to gradually dim, and pressing the configuration/favorites button will cycle through scenes. It’s the end of 2025. Surely there has to be a way to do this. I am using SmartThings but I want a direct matter binding between the switch and the lights. I am willing to install another hub or ecosystem temporarily to construct the binding, if it actually works. Can it be done? I was thinking that someone could package up the binding in a one-off script that takes two matter numbers as inputs and binds them together.
My understanding with SmartThings is that there is no way to dim by pressing and holding. It’s just not a thing that can be done with the platform. In theory, however, a direct binding between the dimmer and the bulb should be able to accomplish this, if you can get it to bind.
In contrast, I believe that “LIFX scenes” require an HTTP trigger of some kind to the LIFX cloud (because LIFX scenes are stored in the cloud, not locally on the lights or controllers). Or, “SmartThings scenes” could be used, by binding the Smart Dimmer to SmartThings, and then using the button press as a SmartThings trigger to activate routines.
