Recently after updating the switch to the latest firmware one of my White switches have been flickering nonstop alone with the bulb(normal bulb). I use HomeKit.
The switch and bulb begin flickering and the switch becomes unresponsive. I then have to pull the small tab under the switch out and restart it to regain control. However it always returns.
The switch was working perfectly fine prior to the update. Could this be a bug?
I have the exact same issue. All my white series switches accepted the 1.0.5 firmware just like Nemo. One of them is doing the same thing as Nemo. The light bulb flickers and the switch is non-responsive. I am, however, using Home Assistant.
As with Nemo, if I pull the small tab to restart it all works for a while but the flickering comes back within several minutes and the switch is unresponsive agian.
No issues on this switch prior to the update.
Also, the LED on the switch rotates between various colors while it is unresponsive.
Anyone able to provide some next steps? Do I need to just factory reset?
Hi Jeff and Nemo, question, on the switches & lightbulbs that flicker and switch becomes unresponsive.
Does these have neutral wire connected?
If not, that’s probably the issue.
You should purchase these to put at the load side, a bypass. (Also sold on Inovelli website)
“Aeotec Bypass for Nano Dimmer, Load Resistor and Dummy Load for dimmer switches”
I too had same problem too when one of three white series switches FW updated from 1.0.0 to 1.0.5, befor that it wasn’t an issue (months), the platform doesn’t matter (pun intended), I have my white series switches paired to both HA and HK. I wasn’t even using that switch as a dimmer, just an on+off switch (configured in HA as on+off) but didn’t matter.
I ended up adding 2 of the bypasses to my load (light fixture in the ceiling) and the problem totally went away, looking back, I probably should have done that to begin with since the single fixture has 3 very small wattage led candelabra bulbs in it.
It’s always a good idea to factory reset after upgrading firmware. I don’t know if it will solve your specific problem, but I have seen other freshly upgraded switches not perform properly after a firmware upgrade until they were factory reset.
Okay, reading up on these it appears I too need to do this. Thank you so much for clueing my ignorant self in to this. It is rare, but from time to time I see flicker issues for a short time and this appears to be my solve. Again, much appreciate you taking the time to clue me in
