I just installed my White dimmer switches but can not get them to pair with Home Assistant or Google home. My preferred is Home assistant but tried Google Home to make sure it wasn’t Home Assistant.
When I try adding the device to Home Assistant the switch enters pairing mode (light strip pulsing blue) and Home Assistant states that this device requires a border router. I have other thread devices on my home assistant and another Inovelli white fan canopy module that works. Google Home gives me that same error.
There are a lot of conditions that can cause this. To provide a concise answer I need to know: Do you have a mesh - what brand. Do you use HomePods? Do you use Zigbee devices? What type of border routers do you use. What is currently acting as your lead border router? Example Reasons: If you use a Google Nest Pro mesh, it provides matter over thread and will fight any other brand of border router for the lead role in establishing a thread mesh. Also, an Aqara M3 will take down any thread network. It demands Thread control. If you have one, put it in the drawer and get an M2, which provides Zigbee but doesn’t provide thread. The long-and the short of it, with a little more information, we will likely find that something else on your network is causing this problem. It took me six months of random issues to arrive at a bullet proof matter over thread installation. As a result, I can’t always tell you what will work, but I can tell you 300 things that won’t. Best of luck and enjoy the experience.
