Wiring a white series switch using 14-2

I have a home built in 1987. I currently have a Lutron Diva-603P 3-way switch connected to a mechanical 3-way switch. There is only 14-2 connecting the two boxes and the white and black wires are used as the travelers. The Line is in the Lutron box, and the Load is in the mechanical 3-way switch.

Is it possible to replace the Lutron with the White Series Smart dimmer in this configuration?

Can you take some photos of the wiring in each of the switch boxes? As your included diagram shows 14-3 using 2 of the 3 wires as travelers and passing the neutral through to the other box.

It is very crowded in the box. I am attaching a couple pictures and tweaked the original drawing to maybe clarify a bit. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Can you include a photo of the dumb 3-way as well?

I may have a couple questions in a bit, trying to decipher some of what I’m seeing in the photos of the first box.

I may be able to do that later. Here are the only pics I have of the dumb switch right now. Probably not helpful.

Alright, here’s where I am at…

Given the photos provided, I can’t really offer much in the way of advice. To help, I’d really need clearer photos of the wiring with both switches (in both boxes) removed, exposing all of the wiring. In addition, the wires going to the switches being replaced should made visible all the way to the cable.

In your drawing you show three wires plus a ground going to the remote box. A black, a white/black (ie a second black with white paint on it) and a white (ie a 3 wire rather than a 2 wire). At the remote box you only show the black and white/black wires plus a ground. Is that correct?

I totally agree with @koadic we need better pics to be able to help.
