Confirming that with this diagramn for the aux switch one of the traveler wires (shown as black) is pigtailed with the load wire?

Yes, that’s correct. In this configuration with an Aux, the Inovelli sends the Load via the Load termimal to the light via that black conductor and via the other box. So in the other box, the Load arrives via the black, where it must be bundled with the black of the 2-wire to go up to the light.

I have two traveler wires AND a load in the aux box - does that make a difference?

I’m replacing a TP-Link and found their instructions fit my scenario, but struggling to interpret the Inovelli ones as there’s no load wire from the switch.

Moved to a new topic to prevent hijacking a solved thread.

I’m guessing you mean in the TP-Link drawing?

You can’t compare the two drawings. Just follow the Inovelli drawing. The TP-Link works differently than an Inovelli with an Aux.
