Z-Wave 800 Series Motion Switch | Project Linus (Red Series)

And since the 28th is a Sunday, I wouldn’t start worrying about missing an update until at least the 30th.

I suggest not holding your breath for multiple days. It could be hazardous to your health.

Against your (as well as my own) advice, I tried holding my breath, but kept passing out and being sent to urgent care. My insurance finally said they wouldn’t cover any more visits and so I have given up holding my breath until the next update

@Eric_Inovelli cn you post an update so @breakthestatic can resume breathing? :joy:

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to provide a quick update for you all. Production for the mmWave switches has started! We will provide you with the next update once it has been completed. The manufacturer is currently on holiday until the 8th, but they have started the process, and it will resume on the 9th. We are getting close to completing this project and getting the switches out to you! Thank you all for your patience!

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!

What’s the latest ETA. Any chance of them arriving this month?

Can we get another update? Now that it has been in production for a couple weeks, what is the ETA?

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your patience on this. Just wanted to share a quick update. Z-Wave production will take a little longer than the Zigbee production to complete, so you will see the Blue Series customers receiving their orders before the Red. The manufacturer’s logistics team has just shared the following shipping info with us:

So, Early December is the current time frame for when our shipping partners will receive the Red Series mmWave inventory. Since this is a very large pre-order, I would expect delivery to customers to take from mid-December to early-January. Again, these time frames are just estimates and the dates are subject to change. We don’t have specific dates on when shipping begins, but once we do, we will let you know!

Thank you again for your patience on this project, we are excited to finish this up and get these switches out to you!!

Is there any status on the Red-mmWave preorders? I emailed Eric directly a few weeks ago and have heard nothing. I’ve not seen status since the June email.

Thanks

Posted one day ago in the Red mmW thread.

I’ve moved your post to the project thread. This thread is the best place to keep an eye on the status.

Some feedback for the Inovelli team here (@Courtney_Inovelli / @EricM_Inovelli / @Kaleb_Inovelli ):

I love Inovelli products, and the mission y’all seem to be driving for, but feel like the biggest thing hindering Inovelli is on the communications side.

As an example of this, for those who backed via indiegogo and weren’t previously part of the Inovelli community, they’d expected to see all updates via indiegogo and so were often left in the dark for extended periods, even though updates had been posted to the forums. This was eventually corrected, but not before significant friction was encountered.

Now we’re kind of seeing similar pains with communication again, where the blue series mmwave post has been closed, there is nobody responding to the posts backers have made on indiegogo (and some are having some serious issues and highly significant concerns), and no hard date of ‘you’ll hear from us again by X date’. A post saying that backers shipments are going out “~now” came nearly two weeks ago, but there was no commitment as to when folks should expect their items, leaving many of us guessing as to when we should see our orders.

I fully understand that the logistics are likely complicated, and giving everyone their own individualized shipping dates is likely impossible, but it’d be extremely helpful if we had both consistency in comms, as well as expectations set so we’re not left to wonder what’s going on. I’d be happy with something as simple as ‘We expect that all orders should be fulfilled (e.g. delivered to your door) before end of the year, and if that changes, we’ll update | here | (tell us where we should expect to hear about any changes to the timing)’.

As it stands, I’ve no idea when I should expect to even hear anything more from Inovelli about the 10 switches I’m supposed to receive, let alone when I’m supposed to receive them - only that they should’ve shipped last week (based on this post), and that I don’t have them yet… Checking fedex and ups, they’ve not picked up any shipments directed my way, so to me at least, this signals that there’s some kind of problem, though I’ve no way of confirming whether or not that’s the case.

As a customer, it doesn’t really leave me with the warm fuzzies, and I hope you can understand how all this can leave us feeling a bit lost here.

Hopefully this can be streamlined going forward!

I updated your tracking info for you.

Hey @BVD – completely understand the frustration and yes, it’s something we’re trying to get better at.

While not perfect, we’re honestly trying our best, but looks like there’s still room for improvement.

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but one of the things I’ve done for the most recent projects is have a weekly summary generated and automatically posts.

While not helpful for this project, here’s what’s been hindering communication, if I’m being fully transparent, and it’s one of those, “a few bad apples ruins it for everyone” type situations that I’m trying to work through.

I originally sent out emails directly targeted at mmWave backers throughout the year. This then turned into people becoming upset that they weren’t getting emails.

So, then I went ahead and sent an email out to everyone in our database that has subscribed to our emails.

This turned into a complete nightmare as we had people reach out and threaten lawsuits (not kidding) for emailing them with unsolicited emails (even though it was just a status update, no marketing at all).

In fact, there is actually a lawsuit that was filed recently for “trauma related communication” – in other words, hearing from us caused trauma. Yes, you read that correctly. Upwards of $40-50k is being asked.

So, as you can imagine, this makes me put a pause on communication for a bit.

My hopes is that if someone has a problem, or needs help, they would reach out to customer service, but I understand the expectation would be a tracking number, email, etc from us. I’m caught in a pickle – one of the “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” type situations.

As for the issues on Indiegogo, I just see the crafting supply issues, which, everyone who’s had an issue has reached out to support and gotten their switches sent to them immediately. It was an issue with our fulfillment partner and, while embarrassing, it should be resolved.

But, message received, I can assure you that I’m working hard on a consistent communication platform as I know it’s a struggle.

@EricM_Inovelli Hoooooly hell, people need to take a chill-pill - if merely receiving an email is enough for someone to feel ‘trauma’, they’ve got bigger issues than worrying about some cool smarthome tech

What’d be ideal IMO is just having a status page somewhere, with timelines posted there for when people can expect < whatever > - maybe have a breakdown of expected ship dates or stock availability, when one should expect to receive a shipping notification (e.g. no later than X), or even just ‘our next update’ (and even an update saying ‘we’ve no change in status at current, but will update again no later than X’ is acceptable IMO). At least then people could just visit the page on the occasion they wondered what was going on at any given time, and as long as that status was up to date (e.g. no missed update commitments), then no need for any further efforts on either the customer or Inovelli’s side.

Appreciate your taking the time to read the post and for (I believe at least lol) taking it as intended - I’m rooting for you folks, and look forward to further great things from you in the future!

Is there someone we can email to get shipping info for the indiegogo preorders? I’ve had an issue where I haven’t received packages lately and am concerned if I should have expected by now

[email protected]

Wanted to post a quick update here and will also post to the Indiegogo page…but unfortunately these units have been selected for a customs inspection! According to our shipper that can delay them anywhere between 7-14 days longer than we were expecting. Please understand this is 100% out of the hands of Inovelli and these units will start going out as soon as we have them!
