Will the switches have the ability to define or limit the detection area?
Googl⌠The search engine is your friend.
Do you know when pre-order pricing is going to be going away on the website? Going to be picking up a dozen or so. Saving my pennies but donât wanna miss out on pricing.
If you know you want pre-order pricing, why not just order them now? Letâs say itâs going away in 2 weeks (Iâm making that up), does it really matter? Iâm guessing you have the same thinking as me regarding the time value of money, so I often think what you are asking here but then I realize it doesnât really matter with this amount of money.
See, people like you make this hobby dangerous. Just placed my order for 15 units. I was saving up to pay via debit but said forget it and paid with PayPal. Gives me 6 months no interest.
Well, my comment assumes you have the funds for it. This hobby is not for someone to be putting purchases on credit and paying interest! So make sure it is all paid off before it comes due! But thatâs more a topic on for the personal finance subreddit.
@Kaleb_Inovelli,
Any feedback to Joeâs post about the timing to ship and how to specify colors for Indigogo backers?
Also somewhere in the 700 message chain (or the other thread) there was a discussion about the original backers (like me) being able to pay an upcharge and change a portion (or all) of our backing pre-order from Zigbee to Z-Wave. Any update on that or feedback there?
Thanks,
-Jonathan
Hi there,
At this time, we do not have an update on the timeline for the release of the mmWave switches. This project is currently in the last phase before mass production, which is the certifications phase. Unfortunately, the certifications phase is taking a bit longer than usual. Once that phase is completed, we will have a better idea on the updated timeline.
Regarding the color paddles for the mmWave switches, you will need to purchase the color paddle you would like on our website once it is in stock, as the Indiegogo switches are all the default White color.
Lastly, there will be an email sent out to all mmWave purchasers before we begin shipping them out to customers where you will get the opportunity to switch your order from Zigbee to Z-Wave and vice versa.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you!
Thanks! Right now it doesnât look like the paddles are available as a separate SKU/item that can be ordered⌠(maybe Iâm missing it). When the team gets the moment, could you shoot us a link to get those queued up.
I have black throughout my house, and it would be like getting a present on Christmas morning that said batteries not included and having to wait weeks to play with it if I sat on 30 switches for weeks waiting for black pieces of plastic so I could install themâŚ
Thanks again!
Jonathan
Hello,
I am excited that these switches are in the final stages! I have had the 25 of these on Indigogo order since April 1st, 2023 so we just passed the 2 year mark. I also purchase 30 White switches back when I thought that these mmWave switches would be upgradable to Matter/Thread. Many of these switches are in 3-way configuration so I was planning on binding them together. Since Home Assistant doesnât yet support Matter binding, I have must been using the hub/automation to bind them together. I has been working but I would prefer to use hardware binding without the hub.
Option 1 (preferred) - Replace the Matter/Thread firmware on White switches so everything is Zigbee and I can bind them together. Is this possible? Maybe even with a âharnessâ that I have seen mentioned in other threads.
Option 2 - At one point there was talk about creating a list for people that would wait longer for a Matter/Thread version of the mmWave switch. Is there any update on that? Any idea what the delay would be? It have been over 2 years so I really would prefer not to wait even longer.
Option 3 (least preferred) - Use Home Assistant with automation to âbindâ the 3-way switches together between Matter/Thread and Zigbee.
Thanks,
Ken
Any Updates? It has been a bit since I have heard anythingâŚ
IMHO, the best thing you can do is subscribe to the mailing list from the pre-order page for the device. In my experience, Inovelli isnât hiding things from anyone, they just donât tend to post updates that say âthere are no updates.â If you scroll up youâll see the last update posted April 3. I donât think asking for more updates makes them come any faster.
We are still waiting on the certification. Wish we had more news.
I see pre-orders for the switches are still open. Does anyone know if new orders will ship with the initial production run?
For option 2, I think itâs going to be a long time before the Matter Motion Switches are out. They have not started beta testing those, and I think the limitations of the matter standard may delay the rollout as these switches will require a lot of configuration options, which may not be possible just yet.
How can Inovelli possibly afford the deliver these switches to us? I do not know what the cost is to manufacture them, but it will now cost Inovelli 3x that amount to bring them into the USA due to Trumpâs tariffâs. If Inovelli delivered them to USA customers, they would end up taking a huge loss.
The problem is, that if Inovelli passes the tariff fees onto us, most of us would probably reject them. I would pay $75 to $90 for such a product, but I would not be willing to pay $200+. I am guessing Inovelli used our pre-orders to pay for development of the product, so they might not have the funds to refund the orders.
Doesnât this leave Inovelli in a very difficult position? I expect Trumpâs tariffs to drive a lot of small business into bankruptcy. I hope Inovelli is not one of them.
Itâs possible they may fit into one of the exemptions that was carved out. I use an 8542 HTS code when shipping coordinators overseas and itâs on the list:
*Not a customs expert
I really hope one of those will apply!
Is it safe to assume that these tarifs have no impact on Canadian orders?
Iâm guessing âNoâ if theyâre shipped to the US first.
Looks like we have another 90 days to get them shippedâŚ
