Is it possible to not make this a part of P50? I really like being able to have instant on/off at the switches, impacting that ability to lower the time to start dimming would be a huge bummer.
I donāt think that is what that means. My understanding is that right now the dimming button delay is fixed to 700ms (or maybe 1000ms) no matter what settings you change. The firmware adjustment would be for P50 to also apply to the dimming function. Speaking to the engineer he is going to set it to P50 + 100ms (just for dimming). So if you set it P50 to 300ms, then the dimming will start at 400ms. Iām confirming what the case would be when P50 is 0.
Ok that makes sense. I do still think having them as separate parameters would provide a better overall user experience, is it possible to implement a new parameter?
Because it hasnāt been configurable in the past, I have no idea if those in my household tend to hold down the switches or not without intending to dim. But if they do, then Iād have to trade off between on/off speed and dimming speed depending on the situation. Having them be separate parameters removes any of that ambiguity in behavior and makes it easier to adjust to how people in your household use the switches.
The other thing is with button delays for multi taps. If the user truly intends to dim, but you have a generous multi tap delay, then you wonāt be able to set the dimming start faster than the multi tap delay.
Thanks, we will definitely try to get it as a separate parameter. I think the current solution is a step in the right direction though. It makes the switch seem more responsive when trying to dim, and shouldnāt have any negative impact. This is because P50 should continue to work as it does now but now it will just take less time to start dimming the device.
For example, int the past I think the dimming time was hard coded to 1000ms. If you set P50 to 300ms, it would still take 1000ms to start dimming. Now, the switch will still have a 300ms delay for scene control, but now it will start dimming at 400ms which should feel faster to the user.
Do you have an ETA when this firmware will be released?Looking forward to having more responsive dimming. Thanks!
