I originally posted in the Home Assistant category about this, but wanted to see if anyone here had a solution. Here’s the original topic: How to create a trigger for the LZW31-SN buttons when the internal relay is disabled?

TL;DR-the-other-post: the internal relay is disabled and I can’t get button press events through SmartThings or Node-RED.

I think you’re over complicating things and adding a bunch of latency by trying to use SmartThings with Home Assitant. Why not just use a zwave usb stick and set up your zwave network directly in Home Assistant?

Yes, I’ve only recently realized that. I wasn’t aware that SmartThings would be cloud-based, and I have already ordered a USB dongle so that I can bind them directly.
