Down paddle functions like air gap?

One of my switches seems to have a down paddle that works like the air gap, it causes the LED bar to turn off and when I let go I see the boot up light cycle of cyan and then yellow. This is identical to what happens when I pull out and push back in the air gap.

Is there a way to resolve this or does it need to be RMA’d?

Sounds like a non neutral install. If your load isn’t sufficiently large, with non neutral installs the switch can reboot. This can be corrected by adding a bypass or if you’re using smart bulbs, rewiring at the light socket to pass a neutral back to the switch.

There is a neutral actually. I also swapped this switch in two locations where I usually have other White Series switches. While those other switches worked correctly, this one had the problem in both locations.

I also found that I was able to occasionally press the down paddle very lightly without triggering the reboot, but it was sporadic.

Sounds like it may be a defective switch then, if the problem is following the switch when you swap it out.

Just to double check, have you verified with a meter that the neutral is actually a neutral?

Does this happen to be a 3-way switch setup? I had a similar scenario with a 3-way setup, and it turned out I had the line/load reversed. The switch sort of worked because the power was still flowing through the traveler and back, but every time I tried to switch it, it would reboot.

Yes it is a neutral and it is not a 3-way switch setup. I’ll file an RMA, thanks
