Fan Canopy Module - Reverse Direction?

I know this has been asked before (here, here, and here), but I wanted to rekindle the question whether the fan canopy module can support reversing fan direction?

The wiring diagram for Hunter fan canopy modules (the non-smart A/C variety) shows reversing direction is achieved by a relay that reverses the polarity of the pink and yellow wires (red being always hot and grey (not shown) being always neutral) of two inner motor windings via the standard 9-pin connector by responding to a 12V DC voltage. There is a motor diagram also on the last page.

Kichler fans work in the same way, but while Hunter fans have four speeds and four wires (excluding the light), Kichler fans have three speeds and three wires. Aside from that, this general design seems to relatively universally used across several brands.

Now switching a relay can be easily done, but I’m not 100% sure how the Canopy module interacts with the three distinct motor windings, since it seems to have only two wires for the fan (three if you include neutral)?
How does the canopy module address the inner windings compared to the outer winding?

If not, I’ll try to use a workaround like this one: GitHub - SpeedyGoneZales/HunterCeilingFan: Home Assistant integration for Hunter / Casablanca Ceiling fans

No, neither the fan switches or canopy can support reverse direction.
