Finding Fans That Can Accommodate Canopy

About six months ago I installed a Blue dimmer switch and replaced an existing fan remote control box with the Blue canopy module to control an existing fan / light fixture. That worked great. But now I need to install a new fan and I want to control it with a canopy module as well. The issue is I’m having a hard time telling if the fans I am looking for have room to accommodate the module. I have looked through the installation manuals for several fans and I still can tell whether the canopies are going to have enough space.

Any tips? Do I need to stay away from “hugger” models? Is there some keyword in the product description I need to be looking for?

I’d stick with brand names where you can pull the specs up on-line, such as Hunter Fan. One the Hunter website, the list all the fan’s dimensions, to include the canopy module. Like these:

The ceiling huggers (not the low profile) fans actually have way more room in the canopy.

The top picture above is a ceiling hugger, the bottom is a standard canopy.

The canopy module’s dimensions are 1" x 3" x 2.13"

I’ve got two Hunter ceiling huggers and one low profile and the canopy module fit easily in all 3 of them. Some of the easiest installs I’ve done.

I’ve been looking mostly at Harbor Breeze and their manuals don’t have dimensions. I’ll take a look at Hunter.
