Inovelli 2026: Q3 Update!

Inovelli 2026 – Q3 Update

Hey everyone,

As mentioned in our 2026 roadmap post, we will continue sharing quarterly updates to give a high-level view of what we have been working on, where things stand, and what is coming next.

This post is meant to complement the individual project threads by highlighting key progress across products, firmware, and some of the larger projects happening behind the scenes.

Product & Project Updates

Red Series Fan Switch (Project Momentum • Z-Wave Fan Switch • Red Series)

Q3 was an exciting quarter for new product announcements, and one of the newest projects joining our roadmap is the Red Series Fan Switch, also known as Project Momentum.

Project Momentum will bring a dedicated Z-Wave fan switch to the Red Series lineup, helping round out the Red Series with an option similar to our existing Blue Series Fan Switch.

Development is now underway, and the individual project thread will be the best place to follow progress and provide feedback along the way.

Red Series Fan/Light Canopy Module (Project Cheryl • Z-Wave Fan/Light Canopy Module • Red Series)

We also officially announced Project Cheryl, our upcoming Red Series Fan/Light Canopy Module.

This will bring a Z-Wave option to the canopy module lineup and provide independent fan and light control for compatible fixtures.

As with our other projects, we will continue sharing more detailed development updates in the individual project thread.

White Series mmWave Dimmer (Project Linus • Matter/Thread mmWave Dimmer • White Series)

We know this one has been highly anticipated.

Project Linus will bring our mmWave presence sensing technology to the White Series with a Matter over Thread mmWave Dimmer.

This gives us the opportunity to bring many of the features found in our existing mmWave products to the Matter/Thread ecosystem, and we are excited to have development officially underway.

Button Controller (Blue Series / Red Series)

Development on the Button Controller, also known as Project Walt, is officially moving again.

As we mentioned in Q2, engineering resources had temporarily shifted toward some of our larger B2B projects. With that work progressing, we have been able to resume development on the Button Controller.

One of the biggest areas we have been working through is the paddle design. Our original goal was to create a more modular approach with interchangeable button configurations, but during development we ran into challenges with light leakage between the individual button areas.

After reviewing the design and manufacturing options, we determined that continuing down that path would add too much complexity and make it more difficult to achieve the fit and finish we want.

Instead, we are moving forward with multiple dedicated paddle designs. This gives us much better control over the appearance, labeling, light diffusion, and overall quality of each configuration while still giving customers several options to choose from.

We are currently working through those paddle designs with the manufacturer and expect to review physical samples as the next step. Engraving and final labeling are also still being worked through.

We know this project has been a long road, and we appreciate everyone who has continued following along, sharing ideas, and providing feedback throughout the process.

Zigbee Wall Outlet (Project Jambry • Zigbee Wall Outlet)

Project Jambry has also resumed after being temporarily paused.

This brings the Zigbee Wall Outlet back into active development alongside the other products currently on our roadmap.

We will share more detailed updates in the individual project thread as development continues.

European Switch (Project Europa • Zigbee + Thread/Matter Smart Dimmer • Blue & White Series)

Project Europa is moving again as well.

Our next step is to receive the latest samples and review them internally. Once those arrive, we will be able to get a better idea of where things stand and what changes, if any, still need to be made.

We are hopeful that we will have more information to share soon.

Metal Switch Line (Project Alloy)

Project Alloy continues to be one of the largest projects we are working on behind the scenes.

This month, members of the Inovelli team will be traveling to help install, test, and review the switches as part of a full home installation with our B2B partner. This will give us the opportunity to see the products operating together in a real-world environment and gather feedback from the installation process.

We can also finally share a little more about what Project Alloy actually is.

Project Alloy will be a full lineup of metal switches, including both smart and traditional/dumb switches.

While this project originally started as part of a major B2B opportunity, our plan is also to make the lineup available for purchase directly through Inovelli.

The goal is to create a premium switch lineup with a distinct metal design and a consistent look throughout the home, regardless of whether a particular location needs a smart or traditional switch.

We still cannot share photos just yet, but we are getting closer. As soon as we are able to show them publicly, we will.

Exploring an Inovelli Wallplate

Another idea we have started exploring is designing our own wallplate.

There are a lot of different directions we could take this, and this is an area where we would really like input from the community before getting too far into the design process.

What wallplates are you currently using that you really like?

Are there certain materials, shapes, screwless designs, edge profiles, finishes, installation methods, or other details that you think make a wallplate better?

If Inovelli were to create one, what would you want us to do differently?

Let us know. We would love to hear your ideas.

Firmware Updates

I tried Lutron wall plates, and also Leviton. I ended up not liking the flat edge, and the seam in the Lutron. The Leviton looked a bit more like traditional plates with no visible seams. Like the Leviton, b I g able to adjust all the screws at once makes it much easier to get multi gang switches to align, and is a great place to stick the QR code stickers so no screws are needed to see them later. Then just snap the cover on and it’s all hidden. I’m trying to think of any feature I’d want added to a wall plates, but the only addition I can even think of is a dedicated space/outline/recess (sized for the for the extra QR code stickers that are in the box) that is hidden when fully installed, but easy access.
