Inovelli Blue Series and Aux

Hi there,

I recently installed the Blue Series Dimmer Switch (VZM321-SN) and got it connected to Home Assistant through Zigbee2MQTT. I’m still experimenting with the different parameters, but so far I really like it — especially because it works with Philips Hue bulbs, which was my main reason for buying it.

The room where I installed the dimmer has three different switches that can control the lights. I put the Blue Series switch in one of those spots. Along with it, I also purchased two of the Inovelli Add-On (Aux) switches, hoping to use them in the other two locations. My goal is to make sure that the Hue bulbs never lose power, no matter which switch someone uses.

I was able to get the main dimmer working just fine and can control the lights using Zigbee2MQTT after adjusting a few parameters. The issue I’m running into is with wiring the Add-On switches. I tried installing the first one, but I’m confused about how to wire it. None of the three switch boxes have a neutral wire, but they all have travelers. Each box has black wires for Line and Load, plus a ground. That setup worked fine for the dimmer itself, but the Aux switch only has terminals for a traveler, neutral, and ground — no Line or Load.

I’ve looked at a few wiring diagrams online, but none have worked for my situation. I’d really appreciate any suggestions or guidance on how to wire the Add-On switches properly with my current setup.

Here’s a photo of the wiring I’m working with at one of the dumb switch locations

I am hoping for some advice on how to get this working correctly. Thank you in advance!

Hi!

I’m not necessarily the best person to provide specific wiring advice but I wanted to make sure you were aware of the following page: Blue Series Dimmer Switch • Wiring Schematics | Inovelli Help Center

You mentioned that you were looking at wiring diagrams online but I’m not sure if these were the specific ones you found. There’s a Multi-Way (3-Way) + Auxiliary > 3-Way Non-Neutral Wire Installation section that is likely applicable/extensible for your situation.

You may also find this post helpful (particularly JohnRob’s diagram), it looks like someone else was dealing with a similar no-neutral 4-way wiring situation: 4-Way with no Neutral - #15 by dwright34
