Mixing Red and Blue on a single 3 way circuit

TLDR; Can you mix Red OR White and Blue dimmers on a single 3 way circuit?

Now the long form. Complete newbie so I apologize in advance if this sounds REALLY silly. I would like to introduce an alternate protocol to my house. I currently have Blue series switches in the house.

I have a few three way dimmers (kitchen, Basement living room cans) that I would like to migrate to Inovelli from dumb to smart. Can I replace the two dumb switches on a single circuit with two different protocols instead of say.. 2 x blue or 1 x blue and 1 x Aux/Add-On?

Thank you for not laughing/groaning too hard.

Regards,

karl

Yes, you can do that. However, if you want to bind 2 switches (they both turn on/dim/etc. at the same time without using a hub), then they would need to be on the same protocol.

That said, on a 3-way circuit, you can also have a switch of any protocol connected to an Aux switch for 3-way control. They will be physically linked, so the protocol won’t matter.

Thank you very much for the answer.

So if I want to bind them I will need two of the same protocol.?

Correct. Binding only works for devices using the same protocol.

Again, Thank you for the answer.

I appreciate your time.
