When performing the quick tap sequences, you do not have to hold down the up/down paddle when hitting config. This is a bug in the firmware that has been a thorn in my side for quite some time now because it is easy to turn on smart bulb mode. With 2 Airbnb’s my guests are encountering this on a regular basis.
The ask is to fix the Quick Tap Sequence feature to honor the up/down button hold.
Try this, and you will see what I mean. Don’t hold any switch down, just hit config 4 times and then press the up paddle once. You are in smart bulb mode, and your lights will not turn off.
Awesome switches except for this one bug. If the feature actually honored the up/down button hold then they would be perfect.
Quick fix, change smart bulb activation to hitting config 147 times
This was closed by (I think) @Lance_Inovelli (sky…?) with the comment “Inovelli confirmed issue not present on 3.0.1 Hubitat and HA Green and HA OS Raspberry Pi .” Maybe @Lance_Inovelli can comment further.
I originally confirmed on ST with switch firmware 2.0. There was no mention of that hub in the comment.
@breazile can you report back with your Hubitat ver?
@Bry@breazile , On my VZM25 and VZM31 I have to hold the paddle to enable/disable smart mode. It was present in the previous FW and testing with the current FW we could no longer produce this behavior. Hence the closing in our github. @breazile you have updated to the current FW correct? Did you do a factory reset and re-pair the switch after the FW update?
@Lance_Inovelli What are you considering the current firmware? The current firmware in the firmware changelog is 2.18. But your Github note said the bug was not present in 3.01.
Was any version of the V3 firmware released to Hubitat? If not, the OP will still be on 2.18.
@Bry thanks, I get in the mindset of what I am working with and have on some of my switches. It has been sent to Hubitat and EricM has pinged them as to when it will be pushed for general availability. Our testing of this on FW 3.01 shows it functions as it should.
