Our new house had 45x recessed lights throughout and I’ve been deciding between using Hue, Hue hub, and Blues, or holding out for a bit more and building out on matter thread and Whites. Apple HomeKit environment with plenty of AppleTVs and HomePods for border routers. Will be using retrofit LEDs as opposed to whole new fixtures. Right now the only option appears to be the 4" Nanoleaf thread enabled retrofit LED. Anyone notice any at CES two weeks ago?
If I go the Hue/Blue route I don’t think I’d ever change to thread as the cost is gonna be significant. But I’m also willing to wait if things are around the corner and coming in 2025 for Thread.
I’m wondering the same, have you found anything yet? I haven’t tried the Nanoleaf ligths yet, but this review claims issues with the A19 bulbs connecting to HA https://youtu.be/1Xk7sTe29hs.
The reviewer does like the Zigbee Innr bulb. I’m planning on grabbing one of their recessed devices to see if it will bind to smart bulb mode on a blue series switch.
I have the nanoleafs and they are working fine with home assistabt after they were updated to the newest firmware. Before that they would take down the thread network and my guess was they went offline and the mesh got jacked. I’ve had not problems since I updated. Pair them with nanoleaf app first and update them, then remove if you want and you can pair directly to HA first of Apple Home first. All my devices are paired / commissioned to HA first and then shared out. Apple Border Routers are what I am using. There are Matter over wifi and matter over thread nanoleafs and I am using the thread ones.
