I have recently purchased some Z-Wave (Red Series) mmWave dimmers and on-off switches, and have been interested in them chiefly due to the energy monitoring capabilities.
In the room I’ve been testing, the mmWave dimmer and the on-off switch both tend to report about 10W~13W of power usage when they are on, but are on only intermittently throughout the day.
That being said, throughout the day, on the shower light switch (on-off switch), energy use rose from 1.73kWh to 1.78kWh, so 0.05kWh, or 50Wh. Given that this light was only in use for 29 minutes total throughout the day (according to Home Assistant), that would’ve required the power (wattage) to be approximately 100W for this to make sense (nearly 10x in excess of the 10W~13W reported).
On the other switch (mmWave dimmer) I get similar results, with the switch reporting 12W~13W when on, and the energy use rising from 5.85kWh to 6.09kWh throughout the day, an increase of 0.24kWh or 240Wh. This would seem to imply this light was on for about 20 hours today, but it was on maybe an hour and a half or maximum 2 hours (according to Home Assistant logs, and living here). This too is a discrepancy of 10x.
In short, it seems that either the reported energy usage (kWh) is 10x too high, or alternatively the power (W) is 10x too low.
Is this a known issue that has been noted? Is there a fix on the way? Have others checked the energy monitoring and corroborated similar?
